Comixology brings French digital comics to the United States and Canada

Continuing to expand its inventory of French-language comics, Comixology, the digital comics platform and marketplace, is launching 700 French comics on the North American market. The French titles are released for the first time in the United States and Canada and are a by-product of the launch of Comixology Europe, the Parisian division of the digital provider, earlier this year.

The new titles come from the Delcourt Group, which includes the Ediitonal Delcourt, Soleil Productions and Tonkam brands, and are available for purchase through the Comixology app and website. All Comixology digital comics are supported on Apple, Android, Windows 8 and Kindle platforms.

Delcourt Group Founder and Publisher, Guy Delcourt, said, “Comixology helped bring the large Delcourt and Soleil library of comics and comics to digital and now they are helping us debut in the US and the UK. Canada, we couldn’t be happier.

French comic series now available through Comixology include Noob, Les Legendaires, Trolls de Troy and Lanfeust. The deal will also make French-language editions of acclaimed American comic books available in North America, including French versions of Ed Brubaker’s Criminal, John Layman’s Chew, Alan Moore’s League of Extraordinary Gentlement: Century, and ‘others.

Since the launch of Comixology Europe in Paris in early 2013, Comixology has recruited around 40% of French comics publishers, including Akileos, Panini, Aelement Comics, Glenat and many others.

Comixology Co-Founder and CEO David Steinberger said, “Just as we were thrilled to launch these titles in French through Comixology in Europe, we are equally thrilled to be able to launch these books digitally in the US and Canada.
